September 10th marked World Suicide Prevention Day. This year, we want to recognise some of the Collective Funds at Prism that are working in the mental health and suicide prevention sector.
Flackstock Collective Fund hosted Flackstock Festival in July 2022, at Englefield House, to celebrate the life of Caroline Flack. The festival brought together comedy, dance and music, including performances from many of Caroline’s friends. Proceeds from the event are being distributed to mental health charities in her memory.
Ned’s Fund was established in memory of Ned, whose family and friends are raising money and awareness for charities that provide vocational opportunities for young people who have not yet found their path in life. Ned’s Fund seeks to empower young people at an age where they can easily feel lost, whilst creating a space where those who have lost family and friends to suicide can listen to and support one another. They have sent grants to charitable organisations that help young people engage in extracurricular activities ranging from sports to theatre.
11 Foundation aims to break down the stigmas that exist around mental health, and to empower young people to find their voices through positive and inspirational activities. The 11 Foundation has collaborated with Place2Be to provide a specialist mental health support worker for young people at Barking and Dagenham’s Future Youth Zone, at the heart of the East London Community. A dedicated Place2Be counselor is on site to offer support to young people who need it most.
