30th October 2013

On the morning of Monday 28th October, Prism the Gift Fund and Maurice Turnor Gardner awoke to yet another major disruption on the day of an event. Anna Josse and the PtGF team have fought off transport strikes, hail storms, a central London fire and now a hurricaine to provide talks by some of the UK’s leading philanthropists. This time is was the turn of Lloyd Dorfman, founder of Travelex and renowned arts philanthropist.

Maurice Turnor Gardner were our event partners for the second time, and despite the weather we still had a fantastic turnout at 201 Bishopsgate for what was to be a fascinating recounting of Lloyd’s journey both in business and into philanthropy, ultimately culminating in his fantastic relationships with The Prince’s Trust, St Paul’s School and The National Theatre.

Describing himself  as “a very young 61″, he spoke for an hour and was happy to answer questions in his trademark frank and honest style. It is always a privilege to hear candid accounts from great speakers, and we’re so grateful to Lloyd for his time and energy, and to Maurice Turnor Gardner for co-hosting with us.

The PtGF team are always left with one question after an event: what on earth will happen next time?
