Since I started my journey at Prism, I’ve enjoyed getting to know my colleagues, learning about the charity’s values, and understanding how my role impacts our wider strategy. Entering into the new position, Head of Donor Advised Funds (DAFs), and as a Senior Relationship Manager, I manage a portfolio of clients who make a variety of grants to causes globally and often have investments within their DAF.
In addition, I am proud to manage a team of dynamic and hardworking colleagues who look after DAF and Collective Fund clients at Prism. In collaboration with our compliance and finance team, we are implementing new internal processes, which will ultimately support Prism’s growth as we continue to onboard new clients who are looking to maximise their giving via DAFs.
The core ethos of Prism is to channel more money into the third sector by creating efficiencies for high net worth individuals, families, companies and groups – for whom we provide a personable and swift service. In doing so, every Relationship Manager gets to know their clients and private advisers well, and in addition, becomes well acquainted with the work of the charities, social enterprises and not-for-profit grantees who are being supported.
As well as facilitating the administration, compliance and due diligence for a client’s giving, an important aspect of my role is broadening my knowledge of the private and public sector. A key experience that stands out during my first six months would be attending an external panel event which discussed philanthropy, legacy and the next generation of wealth holders. It was amazing to be part of such a thought-provoking discussion around the next generation, their approach to philanthropy and how philanthropy is a core part of their legacy. The importance of focusing on the needs of our communities and when advising clients helping them visualise ‘What sort of world do you want to live in’ – especially as it was highlighted that millennials lead on their personal values more than any other generation when making key decisions.
Another highlight was an event hosted by Prism’s Collective Fund client, Phoenix Court Works Foundation, for which they brought together their local community partners and grantees to discuss the long-term impact we must create for future generations and ensuring we tackle issues from a creative and dynamic perspective.
Looking back at my first six months at Prism, I can proudly say that this journey has been nothing short of transformative. I’ve grown both personally and professionally, acquired new skills, and am excited to continue working with inspiring philanthropists and organisations across the globe.
