Conflicts Policy
Conflicts Policy for trustees in relation to the consideration of grant applications from bodies with which they are associated. There is no prohibition on applications for grants from charities with whom a trustee is associated but if at the time of the consideration of the grant (or at any time during the project funded by the grant) a Trustee:
1. Is, or has been, an employee or trustee of a applicant charity: The Trustee concerned will absent themselves from [consideration of the grant] [discussions of all applications in the category to which the application is allocated]. The Trustee will also withdraw from any relevant decision making, i,e, he will not be counted towards the quorum or able to vote on that decision.
2. Is, or has been, a partner or employee of a firm of professional advisers or provider of services to the applicant charity: Then, subject to the extent of the conflict, the Trustees may be asked to absent himself from [consideration of the grant] [discussions of all applications in the category to which the application is allocated].
3. Has a lesser connection with the applicant charity, such as (1) being an employee of another body providing funding to a nominated charity, (2) being a trustee, employee, or adviser or funder of an associated entity (“associated” in this context would include other autonomous organisations in a federal structure or international network) (3) having a family member falling into this or the preceding categories: The Trustee concerned will declare their conflicts (but not be required to absent themselves from any discussions unless asked to do so by the Chair of the Trustees).
The Trustees decision on this Conflicts Policy and its application will be final.
